Yeah, the Z3 M is probably more practical in Clownshoe form, but the Z4 M looks way better. If offered one or the other, screw the quirky choice, give me the Z4.

I like cars I have to explain to non car people. The weirdest thing about my e90 is I DON’T have to explain it to non car people. especially living in a small town, when people hear BMW they think it’s some fancy, fast, foreign car that I must have paid a fortune for. I’ve never had a car like that. Plus it’s a handsome sporty looking car, so even people who don’t know car brands understand that it’s not your average Corolla.

Of coarse inversely Car guys are like “cool an AWD 328... good for you....”

The GVR-4 was the exact opposite, car guys loved it. Because it’s a p. Old rare Rally Homolgation Car. Every one else thought it was an old economy car, and nothing else, and couldn’t understand why I would even want to drive it.

I do love the Z4. It’s an incredibly cool looking car. Not boring in the least. I just love the Z3 coupe more. It is what I would build, if I had the power to put a car into production. A two seater, sports car with a real hatchback. Not some fastback/liftback thing.

IMO, one of the greatest parts of owning a car is the occasional “wow, what is that?” It’s so hard to find in most modern cars and the clownshoe is one of the few I can think of. I just wish they had kept the roofline when they went with the Z4, because that’s the better car...

Fair enough. But, in my opinion, it’s not exactly a great quirky thing to have to explain. The thing that makes it cool is that it has a hatch and looks like a clown shoe. No engineering marvels, just a rare body type. Meh?

Yup. The only nearby one I could find with a manual trans was 3,500 more than my car, with 15,000 more miles, and all back interior. I would have loved a wagon, but I’m enjoying my tan interior and less debt.

The Z4 as a whole has aged very well. The early ones with the amber indicators are a bit dated, but the 2007ish era ones, coupe and cabrio both still look great.

Man I can’t tell you how many times I almost bought one of these. I love em. The S54 is beautiful, and its lighter than an E46 M3!!!
